I can size with the ring as a bypass also (if size is small then the end bypasses each other or if left open and size is large they may not bypass). My bypass rings are strong enough for either way!  It would take much effort to change them yourself. This offers the wearer the ease to change sizes to ring if needed someday. No stretching and thinning of material.  I will resize for free anytime! You can easily find someone local as well to assist. Any Jewelry store can do this. If you attempt on your own you will weaken one area and it will break. If done with a mandrel and rawhide hammer and heat it will not affect the integrity.  But whatever way you like I will do!
